Tea cup

You make me feel delicate
and unbreakable
like a tea cup
that's seen
dancing at parties
the nurturing of swollen eyes
measuring flour for a homely cake
Waking lovers in the morning
Pacifying in the evening
you make me feel delicate
and unbreakable
like a beautiful treasured tea cup from your Grandmother

Spots of red wine
On my sleeve
Not washed off over time,
A forgotten memory of mine
In the shape of Italy
On a jumper made in Australia.

Little world, big city

I carry this small world
So vibrant and colourful
Around with me
All of the time
And, as I sit alone
In this big city
With it's din in
The distance
I begin to enjoy
The confines of my little world
And how I can travel
To a monstrous town
To the serenity of the snow
And know
It'll still be there
To jeer
To cheer
To revere
Me and You
And the ugliness and beauty
Of the worlds we share
It'll be there.

195

The 195 to New Farm
Through the Ivory street tunnel
Who's walls are painted ivory
But, covered with a film of car fumes and rubber
Beckons me home, like an arbour over the entrance gate
To a wonderland
Of smells, senses, memories and passion
Experienced and dreamed
In every way
Though it seems that one day
I'll have to briefly say
Thanks and goodbye
